Brim was hired to work within an accelerated 2-month timeline to deliver custom illustrations for videos as a way to scale foundational learning for diversity, equity, and inclusion for organizations. We started with a kickoff session to plan the most efficient process and establish creative direction. Nova provided scripts for each of the 15 videos. Within most of the videos, there was a narrative with characters who portrayed best practices to follow within a challenging scenario. Since the characters would be the most time-consuming to animate, we designed the characters first. After approval on the characters, we then designed the environment and props. The project required additional support, so our Brim team included two junior designers who helped prep the characters for animation. Once characters, environments, and props were approved, we packaged up the files for the motion graphics animator to begin his process. We repeated this creative process for the rest of the videos.
Years later, Nova realized the opportunity to work these videos into an eLearning module, so they hired Brim to design the user interface for the eLearning app. Nova provided me with a script for each of the 15 topics. From there, we designed the UX/UI, keeping the user’s experience top-of-mind by taking into account the flow of information, pacing of the lessons, typography, colors, sound, and voiceover. After receiving approval from the project manager and producer, we packaged the files for the developer to begin his process. We repeated this creative process for the rest of the modules.
Brim expanded our relationship with The Nova Collective. We were enlisted to design a comprehensive suite of educational videos, comics, and eLearning modules to help facilitate DEI learning for organizations and workforces across the country, that aligned with their newly created visual identity.
